Over five nights World Movies celebrates the work of Spanish film maestro Pedro Almod√≥var, with a selection of films hosted and curated by the director himself. Almod√≥var will introduce four of his essential works including All About My Mother, Volver, Live Flesh and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. Closing the five-night fiesta is Bigas Lunas’ Jam√≥n, Jam√≥n, a film he chose in his role as co-curator of La Mirada Film Festival.

Pedro Almodovar’s enchanting tale of family, death and superstition won critical acclaim internationally, including Best Screenplay and Best Actress (Penelope Cruz) at Cannes International Film Festival 2006.
Live Flesh (Spain, 1997) – Tuesday 21 February 8.30pm
Heartthrob Javier Bardem joins forces with internationally acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, in this masterful political thriller about a fascinating quintet wrapped in a web of consequences.
All About My Mother (Spain, 1999) – Wednesday 22 February 8.30pm
Pedro Almodovar’s Academy Award-winner is a candy coloured, love-filled ode to women. Penelope Cruz stars as a sexually promiscuous nun in this delightful tragi-comedy. Pure Almodovar madness.
Women On The Verge Of a Nervous Breakdown (Spain, 1988) – Thursday 23 February 8.30pm
The film that won Almod√≥var his first Oscar nomination stars Antonio Banderas and Carmen Maura. This sexy and sophisticated comedy is one of the director’s earliest tributes to the beauty of women.
