From Italian director Donatella Maiorca comes this tragic drama about forbidden love in 19th-century Sicily. Angela (Valeria Solarino) is struggling to fit into the gender role forced upon her by her conservative village society. As her close childhood friendship with Sara (Isabella Ragonese) blossoms into love and sexual attraction, the couple act on their strong feelings and are caught by Angela’s stoic father.

His solution is to lock his daughter in the basement until he can figure out what to do with her. Finally, he decides to allow Angela to disguise herself as a man in order to continue her relationship with Sara free of the society’s judgements. But her disguise brings Angela little freedom.
