As one of the biggest celebrations of film in the world, and often premiering some of the year’s most hyped films, the Sundance Film Festival is an exciting time for all movie fans. Check back for more details as we get closer to Thursday 19th January.

If we got to spend January in Park City, Utah, here’s what our schedule would look like. We’ve picked our favourites from the films announced this week.

2 Days in New York is the follow up to Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in Paris. Set years later, Marion (Julie Delpy) has broken up with Jack and now lives in New York. A visit from her family and the introduction of her new partner (Chris Rock) combine in an explosive series of days.

Abritrage is the new film from Nicholas Jarecki, the touted young director of The Outsiders. Richard Gere stars alongside Susan Sarandon, as a hedge fund magnate who is way over his head and must complete the sale of his company before his fraud is revealed. A stellar American cast and timely story make this a must-see.

Bear is a short film from Australia’s own Nash Edgerton – music video director and brother of actor Joel Edgerton. It tells the story of a man named Jack whose good intentions have terrible consequences.

Shadow Dancer is the gripping story of a widowed mother who is arrested in an aborted bomb plot, and must make hard choices to protect her son. Starring Andrea Riseborough, Gillian Anderson and Clive Owen.

In Robot and Frank a curmudgeonly older dad’s grown kids install a robot as his caretaker, starring Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler.

Psychologist Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) and her assistant (Cillian Murphy) study paranormal activity in Red Lights, which leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic (Robert De Niro).
