Cécile De France is captivating as Jeanine Deckers in this dramatic bio-pic about the Belgium nun turned international singing star. After spending her formative years in her parents’ bakery under the thumb of her hard-hearted mother, teenaged Deckers joins a convent to escape her oppressive childhood home.
However, she finds little improvement in life as a nun-in-training as she unsuccessfully tries to suppress her passionate, creative side. When she pens a song (the 1963 hit, Dominique) that becomes an international hit, Deckers adopts a stage name and embarks on a journey beyond her wildest imagination.
