Sunday nights at 8.30pm World Movies presents the very best in international cinema for the first time on Australian television – sourced from the finest film festivals around the world.

An impoverished maid and social outcast, this is the rags to riches story of one of France’s most famous female artists – Seraphine de Senlis. Channeling the connection she felt with the outdoors through her painting, Seraphine used the raw materials around her to create her masterpieces including blood and dirt.

Suddenly her life took a dramatic turn when German art critic Wilhelm Uhde discovered her talents and promised her success. Featuring an award-winning performance by Belgian actress Yolande Moreau, this true story chronicles the dizzying heights of Seraphine’s dreams and the isolating sadness she encounters along the way.
