Award season is fast approaching – and what a year it has been for amazing films. You may have been keeping abreast of the buzz around the Oscars – but before the Academy Awards there is a little ol’ thing called the Film Independent Spirit Awards, celebrating the very best in indie cinema. Here’s our overview of this year’s nominations.

The Best Feature award is a tough category, and this year is no different – nominated is the crowd favourite Boyhood, the gritty Birdman and the moving Selma amongst others. Also featured is a World Movies favourite, Blue Ruin, nominated for the Best Feature Made for Under $500,000 (the John Cassavetes Award) – our fingers are crossed!

The awards will take place the night before the Oscars on Saturday 21 February. You can check out the full nominations below.
