Talented Norwegian director Erik Poppe’s latest film A Thousand Times Goodnight depicts one woman’s struggle with the realities of war and the realisation that she can’t change some things, yet neither can she walk away.
Set to debut on Australian screens this November, the film was inspired by the director’s own experiences as a war photographer in the 1980s.
Juliette Binoche (Chocolat) stars as one of the world’s top war photographers. On assignment while photographing a female suicide bomber group in Kabul, she is badly injured in an explosion. Back home, another bomb drops. Her husband (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, think Game of Thrones) and daughters can no longer bear the thought of her dying on assignment. She is given an ultimatum: her work or her family. The choice seems obvious…or is it?
